Meet the Advisory Council

Richard Hodge

Richard Hodge

  • YTF Advisory Council Member
  • Auto Theft Investigator for San Antonio Police Department.
  • 22 years in law enforcement.
  • 16 years in youth shooting sports w/ 9 yrs as an assistant manager or manager for the Guadalupe County 4H Shooting Sports Club.
  • 8 years as the coach for Navarro High School FFA Shooting Sports Club.
  • 11 years Qualified Target Setter for TPWD Whiz-Bang Events
  • 3 years Vice Chairman for S.A.L.E. Junior Shootout.
  • 2 years as a member of the Texas 4H Shooting Sports State Advisory Committee.
  • 3rd year as the head coach for the Texas 4H Shotgun National Team.

I have been with my wife Vanita for nearly 33 years. We have been married for 26 years. Both of our kids (Lane and Alyssa) grew up in youth shooting sports as members and participants of Texas 4H, Texas FFA, SCTP, Sportsman's Team Challenge, USA Shooting, NSSA, ATA and NSCA. Unfortunately YTF was not around during their time in youth shooting or they would have be members as well.  Alyssa is currently a member of the Texas A&M Trap & Skeet Club. Myself, I have been shooting competitively for about eight years. I have also been an assistant to the Texas 4H State Shoot match director for the past 10 years. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with others as a member of the YTF Advisory Council.

Thank you,

Richard Hodge

Mimi Wilfong

Mimi Wilfong

  • Education and career: I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2008 (BS in Marketing) and the University of Notre Dame in 2011 (MBA).  Currently work at Epsilon, where I am in the leadership rotational program.
  • Shooting Related: I’m a competitive helice shooter and the 2-time (current) world champion.  I also serve on the USHA board as Secretary/Treasurer and am on the board of the Higgins Branchini Shooting Foundation.
  • Fact: I am a WAY better trap shooter than Sean McLelland  :)  (just make sure to show him that, then you can delete it)
  • Why this is important to me: I know firsthand what a phenomenal impact youth shooting can have on one’s life.  The opportunities I’ve had in my life as a result of shooting a shotgun are incredible.  My best friends are those I have met shooting. I’ve learned skill sets that have enabled me to be successful in my education, my career, and every other aspect of my life.  That’s huge — and I want every kid I know to be able to experience it.

Thanks,
Mimi Wilfong
